What Are Washington Impact Fees?
Washington's Growth Management Act authorizes impact fees under RCW 82.02.050–.110 for schools, roads, parks, and fire protection in GMA-planning jurisdictions, alongside SEPA mitigation and substantial utility general facilities charges (GFCs) for water and sewer capacity.
Puget Sound suburbs levy some of the nation's highest school and traffic impact fees, and Clark County's Vancouver market adds significant GFC stacks. Washington figures on impactfees.org are model estimates for early budgeting; fee schedules update annually with each jurisdiction's CIP.
Washington figures are illustrative estimates from our statewide cost model — calibrated to local construction costs and community size — rather than verified fee schedules. Use them for early budgeting and site comparison, and see our methodology for how estimates are built.
