  • Water Connection Fee (Town of Altha)
    Town of Altha
UNCONFIRMED. CORRECTION (7/11/2026): the Town of Altha DOES have an official website — townofaltha.org — and DOES run its own municipal water utility (customer billing via MuniBilling / CPTeller online bill pay). The prior note ('not on Municode, no official website found') was wrong on the website point. However, the town publishes no ordinances and no rate/fee schedule: both its 'Town Ordinances & Important Documents' page and its 'Ordinances & Minutes' page are empty. The water connection/tap fee is set by the Town Council and is not posted anywhere. VERIFY amount and MF per-unit basis: Town Clerk Dustin Graham, Altha Town Hall (850) 762-3280, clerk@townofaltha.com (the prior 850-674-4545 county number was not the right contact).

  • Sewer Connection Fee (Town of Altha)
    Town of Altha
UNCONFIRMED. MATERIAL FINDING (7/11/2026): Altha is CURRENTLY BUILDING its municipal gravity sewer system — a Small Cities CDBG-funded project installing ~6,400 LF of 8-inch gravity sewer plus ~2,800 LF of 6-inch force main to connect approximately 90 residential homes (public notice posted April 2026 at calhouncountyfl.gov/uploads/2026/04/altha-2nd-public-notice.pdf). Sewer service is therefore new and limited in extent, and any connection fee is not yet published — the town posts no ordinances or rate schedule (both document pages on townofaltha.org are empty). How impact fees work in Florida

Florida impact fees are one-time charges on new development, governed by Section 163.31801, Florida Statutes (the Florida Impact Fee Act). The statute requires fees to be based on the most recent and localized data, spent on the infrastructure category they were collected for, and adopted by ordinance.

Since 2021, the law also limits how fast fees can rise: increases up to 25% phase in over two years, increases of 25–50% phase in over four years, and increases above 50% are allowed only with a demonstrated extraordinary-circumstances study and at least a two-thirds vote of the governing body.

Counties and cities can both levy impact fees. Inside an incorporated city, a project typically pays the county's countywide fees plus any municipal fees the city has adopted, which is why totals differ between a city and the unincorporated county around it.

Frequently asked questions

How much are commercial impact fees in Altha?

Altha does not currently levy impact fees on commercial development.

Does Altha charge its own impact fees?

Yes. Altha levies its own municipal impact or utility fees. Calhoun County does not currently add county-level impact fees inside Altha. The schedule on this page shows every fee that applies to development in Altha.

Can Florida impact fees increase at any time?

No. Section 163.31801, Florida Statutes limits increases to 50% at most, phased in over two to four years, unless the local government makes extraordinary-circumstances findings and approves the increase by at least a two-thirds vote.

Fee amounts on this page are compiled from official published schedules and are provided for planning purposes only. Rates change, and project specifics (unit size, meter size, location within special districts) can alter what applies. Always verify current fees with the jurisdiction and utility before relying on them.
